How has the use of the internet changed since its inception? Is the internet more or less free (on an audience level) that it was?

The internet has changed over time, because now we can use the internet for many things, that was maybe not possible in the 1970's. Now we can view porn, music videos, download dvd's, and internet is a lot faster now than it used to be. In the 1970's internet was mainly used for email purposes.

Social networks have become so popular and attaching, that the social network Facebook has even reached 500 million members. Many words we use today were made because of the internet. For example, ROFL, poke, blackberry thumb. We use these words everyday on the internet, ecpecially on social networks, and then we use them so frequently in otu everyday lives.
People are going to the post office less and less now, as now we have email. Email is free, convenient, and quick. You dont have to wait, or worry that your letters may get lost in the post. Internet Cafe's are becoming more and more popular, and in many places you go they have Wifi. For examply Mcdonalds has free Wifi, which many people take advantage of everyday, and which helps Mcdonalds to make more money.
The internet has also changed music. It has changed the way we listen to music, and also the way it is promoted, and delivered to us. The internet is a way for many celebrities to be found, for example Justin Bieber was discovered on Youtube.
The Internet has completely changed the way we think of the world. The world is a much smaller place with the Internet. We find so many people on websites such as Facebook, and add people that are friends are mutual with us, therefore meeting new people. Through the internet we can contact different countries. In the Egypt war, Facebook was a way for many people to contact their loved ones to tell them how they were. If it wasn't for the Internet, this would not have been possible.

The internet has even started to affect small businesses. We now have the ability to identify our businesses online, and if we ever need a businesses number, we can easily type it into Google, and get it. Businesses can pay to advertise online, a big example of this is advertising on Facebook. Facebook makes a lot of money from its advertising.

We no longer need to buy CD's, as we can download music online and make our own. We cont need to watch much Television, as many of the things you can watch on TV, you can also watch online. People do not want to go to the cinema, and buy DVD's any more, as they can just download them straight to their computers from the internet.

The internet is more or less free on an audience level. Although we have to pay our internet providers, we do not have to pay to view websites and to use social networks like Myspace and Twitter.

I think the internet has changed a lot over time, and really fits the needs of society. Everyone needs the internet in some way, whether its for applying for a job, or emailing a friends, the Internet is such a powerful and useful source of information, and entertainment.
